Flourless Chocolate Malteser cake
Connor turned thirteen over the weekend and requested the most chocolate cake I could make, so I came up with this delicious flourless chocolate cake and added Maltesers to make it more teenager friendly. It is a pretty easy recipe but I had some odd things happen to my version which required a little improvisation. The end result was a super moist and delicious chocolate cake that was a winner with kids and adults alike. This recipe is what I did, not what the original recip

Chocolate Olive Oil Cake
I wanted to make something special for dessert this weekend and I came across this delicate chocolate cake recipe by Diana Henry and decided to give it a whirl. It doesn't look amazing as the top has a meringuey feel to it, so it cracks, but, the upside is that when you eat it there is a delicious crunch before you descend into the chocolate heaven below. It's an easy dessert for the result - even if you don't do cakes, you can do this one!

Mmmm Mousse au Chocolat
Continuing on with the French influence here is an old faithful that everyone loves. Aside from the bittersweet dark choclate there is hardly any sugar in this recipe, so it's not sickly, just rich, creamy and delicious! Mine was't as light was it a mousse may be because my egg whites just wouldn't stiffen - god don't you hate that. I'm going to search for a mousse recipe that doesn't need meringue because I suck at them basically. But in the meantime, here is this one - I'm

Double chocolate flourless brownies
I got inspired on Sunday afternoon, it was pouring outside and I had crazy chocolate cravings so I decided to make my favourite brownies. They are so simple, but god they are delicious. I love nothing more than a 1 bowl wonder and they are it. Give them a go if you love rich, chocolatey goodness! Ingredients 225g dark chocolate (70%) 225g butter 2 tsp vanilla essence 3 eggs - beaten 1 cup (or just under) of caster sugar 1 and a 1/3 cups of almond meal 200g dark chocolate chip

Mmm Sticky Date anyone?
With Moroccan lamb shanks in the oven and a pop up visit from my brother, I thought I'd make his favourite dessert (well maybe other than trifle) - sticky date pudding. Recipe located, oven on and away we go. A total sugar hit but worth it once in a while. Connor loved it, when I was boxing up some leftovers for Sam he was not impressed - he wanted it all! Ingredients For the pudding 250g pitted dates - finely chopped 1 tsp bicarb soda 1 and a 1/2 cups of boiling water 125g

Easy apple pie
This is one of those simple deserts that everyone loves. I don't make my own pastry and I'm not going to apologise for that the puff is fine and it means this dish is seriously quick. I made it on Saturday afternoon, it took about 15 minutes to prepare and was ready to pop in the oven when we wanted it. There is nothing like a hot apple pie in the middle of a movie on a cold Saturday night! Enjoy. Ingredients I kg apples (I use whatever is in season and cheap) 3 tbs butter Go
