In between (often while) cooking up a storm I enjoy a glass of wine or 2 or 3. Given we are in the depths of a reasonably brutal winter the reds are getting a fair work out at our house.
I'm a wine drinker and enjoyer, not a particularly educated one, unless you get points for trial and error or number of samples, in which case I am edging toward expert status. I'm always on the lookout for somewhere or some way to buy good vino that doesn't break the bank. A couple of months ago, I stumbled across the good people at Vino Mofo and since they guaranteed happiness, I thought I would give them a shot. I like that there are a heap of different wines, from both big and small vineyards, that the prices are fanstastic and that they seem to be normal people doing something cool.
When my first case arrived 2 days after I placed the order it was a rainy, bleak Friday and it meant that I didn't have to pick up a bottle of something on the way home, happy so far. I had chosen a 2012 Victorian Shiraz, a black market deal - which means you don't know what you're getting, so was I surprised when it was Six Foot Six Shiraz worth around $20 per bottle and I had paid $90 for 12 - yes that's considerably less than half price. Yep, happy.
Anyway, that was the beginning of a love love relationship with Vino Mofo and I really look forward to my monthly online shopping date. If you're not into drinking the same wine for a month they do mixed boxes - I just ordered this one which I am super excited about. I think the first thing to go will be The Orgy GSM with a moroccan spiced rack of lamb - sounds like date night right there... I'll let you know how that goes. Or maybe the Duck Sauce Pinot Noir with a Red Curry mmm.
This isn't a paid shoutout or anything like that, I've told all my friends what a great service it is so I just thought I'd share here too. Nic xx
